Starting October 16, the Japanese shipping company Ocean Network Express (ONE) will launch a new maritime route connecting Valencia, Lisbon, and Casablanca. This initiative is part of the company’s broader strategy to strengthen its regional footprint while boosting global connectivity through its hub in Valencia.
The service will depart from the CSP Iberian Valencia terminal, with ships making weekly Thursday stops in Lisbon before heading to Casablanca, where they’ll dock at Marsa Maroc facilities. The journey between Valencia and Lisbon is expected to take three days, while reaching Casablanca will require six. ONE has yet to reveal which container ships will operate on this new route.
By expanding operations in Valencia, ONE is reaffirming the port’s pivotal role in its Mediterranean logistics network. The company is already active across all three of the city’s container terminals—CSP, APM, and MSC—utilizing both dedicated and shared services across short- and long-haul routes.
The new connection to Lisbon and Casablanca complements ONE’s existing links to key locations like Barcelona, Turkey, Tangier, and Fos-sur-Mer, many of which are routed through Algeciras. Together, these routes form a robust regional web that feeds into a wider global network, linking Spain with Asia, Africa, and the Americas.
Ranked as the sixth-largest container shipping company in the world by capacity, ONE is clearly pursuing a long-term vision. Strengthening its presence on the Iberian Peninsula is part of a broader ambition to turn the region into a vital logistics gateway along the world’s major maritime trade routes.
