On November 16, 2024, a remote surgical procedure was successfully carried out over a staggering distance of 12,000 kilometers between Casablanca and Shanghai. Together, they crafted a custom technological solution to ensure the operation’s precision and safety. At its core was an ultra-high-speed, low-latency connectivity network, reinforced by dual independent pathways to guarantee resilience during the procedure.
To preclude technical glitches, rigorous tests of robotic and telecommunication systems were conducted in the lead-up to the operation. These tests involved meticulous coordination between Orange Maroc and its partners, leaving no room for error.
The surgery utilized the Toumai surgical robot, paired with a cutting-edge communication system enabling real-time transmission of the surgeon’s commands from Shanghai to the robot in Casablanca. Thanks to high-definition imaging and robust interconnectivity, the procedure was executed with unparalleled precision.
The integration of advanced cybersecurity measures, including firewalls and strict protocols, safeguarded the confidentiality of medical data. Orange Maroc ensured compliance with international medical ethics and data security standards, solidifying trust in this unprecedented endeavor.
