Over 5.7 million tourists visit Morocco as sector grows 23% in early 2025

Morocco’s tourism climbs 23% in early 2025, with 5.7M visitors and strong gains in overnight stays, led by Al Haouz, Fes, and Tangier.

Tourism in Morocco is showing no signs of slowing down in 2025. By the end of February, hotels and other classified accommodations had recorded over 4.2 million overnight stays—a 16% jump compared to the same period last year, according to the latest figures from the Tourism Observatory.

This growth is largely fueled by a strong resurgence in international travel, which surged by 20%, while domestic tourism also saw a healthy 6% increase. Several cities and regions are reaping the benefits of this momentum. Al Haouz stood out with a remarkable 37% rise in overnight stays, followed by notable gains in Fes (up 29%), Tangier (28%), Casablanca (25%), Essaouira (22%), Agadir (15%), and Marrakech, which saw a 9% boost.

Tourism revenues are also climbing steadily. By the end of April, travel-related income had exceeded 34.4 billion dirhams, marking a year-on-year increase of 7.5%, according to data from Morocco’s Foreign Exchange Office. That translates to an additional 2.4 billion dirhams compared to the same timeframe in 2024.

The number of tourist arrivals backs up this upward trend. From January through April, 5.7 million visitors entered the country—a 23% increase over last year, according to the Ministry of Tourism.
