Rabat expands its luxury hotel scene with the opening of Four Seasons Kasr Al Bahr

Rabat has taken a significant step in catching up with other Moroccan cities in the luxury hospitality sector with the grand opening of the Four Seasons Hotel Rabat at Kasr Al Bahr, a stunning 5-star establishment housed in a former 18th-century royal palace.

Opened on Monday, October 21, 2024, this new addition boosts the capital’s hotel offerings as it gears up to host major international events in the coming years. Located on the scenic corniche, just minutes away from the Kasbah of the Udayas and the Medina, the hotel features 200 rooms and suites with breathtaking ocean views. Guests will also have access to a variety of restaurants, a luxurious spa, and extensive event spaces.

A Royal Palace transformed into a luxury hotel

Once a royal summer residence for Sultan Moulay Slimane and later converted into a military hospital, this historic palace has been meticulously restored and repurposed into one of Rabat’s most prestigious hotels. The opening of the Four Seasons Kasr Al Bahr follows the recent launches of other high-end properties in the region, such as the Fairmont La Marina Rabat-Salé and the Conrad Rabat Arzana, further solidifying the capital’s growing reputation as a luxury destination.

Preparing for the 2030 World Cup

The strategic timing of these new hotel openings is no coincidence. Mohamed El Yacoubi, the Wali of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region, has emphasized the importance of expanding the city’s hospitality capacity ahead of the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Morocco is set to co-host. FIFA’s requirements stipulate that host cities must offer between 4,000 to 6,000 rooms to accommodate visitors, and the new luxury hotels will play a crucial role in meeting these demands.
