The partnership between Morocco and Renault has entered a new phase, signaling a deeper industrial alliance focused on innovation and the shift toward cleaner mobility. A key milestone was marked in Rabat with the signing of an updated investment agreement, witnessed by Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch, Renault Executive Vice President François Provost, and Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour. This new chapter aims to accelerate Morocco’s role as a global hub for next-generation automotive manufacturing.
As part of this renewed commitment, Renault plans to generate 7,500 new jobs—both direct and indirect—by expanding and modernizing its operations in the country. The company’s vision includes a comprehensive transformation of its local supply chain, with a strong emphasis on workforce training, infrastructure upgrades, and the rollout of hybrid and electric models.
In the near term, Renault will begin updating the vehicles currently produced on its Moroccan assembly lines. But the real shift is planned for the next five years. By 2030, Renault aims to develop and manufacture a new wave of electrified vehicles in Morocco. Supporting this effort will be a new engineering center dedicated to research and development, expected to open before the end of 2025.
This industrial roadmap aligns with Morocco’s broader economic strategy, steered by King Mohammed VI, to position the country as a competitive and sustainable industrial platform. The strategy is designed to attract large-scale investment in high-growth sectors, particularly those linked to green technology and advanced manufacturing.
Renault’s presence in Morocco has already made a global impact. In the past year alone, the company assembled over 413,000 vehicles in the country—an impressive 90% of which were exported to 68 different countries. These figures underline the efficiency and appeal of Morocco’s automotive sector, reinforcing the global standing of the “Made in Morocco” brand.
During the signing ceremony, Prime Minister Akhannouch emphasized the importance of embracing advanced technology to keep Morocco at the forefront of the global automotive industry. The expanded partnership with Renault reflects a commitment to added value, innovation, and deeper integration into international supply chains—all of which are essential to sustaining Morocco’s momentum as a rising player in future mobility.
