In preparation for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Royal Air Maroc is ramping up operations with a major expansion of its flight schedule. The Moroccan national carrier is set to add more than 660 additional flights between December 21 and January 18, aiming to accommodate the expected influx of fans arriving for the tournament.
This surge in service marks a more than 50% increase in capacity, with a particular focus on routes connecting Africa, Europe, and the Americas. At the heart of this effort is Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca, which will serve as the central hub for the airline’s enhanced operations during the competition.
But Royal Air Maroc isn’t stopping at transportation. The airline is also rolling out special travel packages that bundle flights, accommodations, and match tickets. These offerings are especially targeted at the African diaspora and are designed to turn a simple trip into a full-fledged sporting experience.
This large-scale mobilization stems from a partnership signed earlier this year between Royal Air Maroc and the Confederation of African Football. The agreement, finalized in April, brought together CAF President Patrice Motsepe, Royal Air Maroc CEO Abdelhamid Addou, and Fouzi Lekjaâ, head of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation. At the time, Addou highlighted the airline’s commitment to supporting Morocco’s broader sporting ambitions, both for the continent and beyond.
To complement these efforts, CAF has introduced new digital tools to streamline the fan experience, including a simplified e-visa and a Fan ID system, both accessible through the Yalla mobile app. These initiatives are aimed at making travel and event access more seamless for supporters heading to Morocco.
Through this robust logistical and strategic push, Royal Air Maroc is not only facilitating smoother travel for fans and team delegations but also playing a key role in delivering what’s being billed as the most ambitious Africa Cup of Nations in history. The tournament will serve as a major milestone on the road to the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Morocco is set to co-host.
