Snowstorm forces Stellar AfricaGold to pause drilling in Moroccan mountains

Stellar AfricaGold has been forced to temporarily halt its drilling operations at the Tichka Est gold project in Morocco’s High Atlas Mountains due to severe winter weather. Heavy snowfall and intense rainfall have made the mountainous site, located at an elevation of 2,500 meters, completely inaccessible, with roads leading to the area now impassable.

As of December 12, 2025, the Canadian mining company had completed eight core drilling holes, covering a total of 1,311.9 meters—averaging around 11 meters of progress per day during active periods. However, deteriorating weather conditions have brought the campaign to a standstill, with no drilling activity possible since then.

Out of the eight completed drill holes, five have already been sampled and analyzed. One hole in particular—designated TCK1—delivered promising results, revealing several gold-bearing zones, including a 13-meter section grading 6.12 grams per ton (g/t) of gold, with a standout two-meter interval at an impressive 22.28 g/t. Additional samples are still undergoing analysis, either already in labs or waiting to be sent to Afrilab, an ISO-certified facility based in Marrakech.

Only two drill holes remain to complete the company’s initial 1,500-meter exploration target. However, any resumption of activity hinges entirely on weather improvements and the successful reopening of access routes. Several recent attempts to clear the roads have failed, as fresh snowfall continues to hit the region.

In the meantime, Stellar AfricaGold is closely monitoring the situation, emphasizing the safety of its field team and the protection of equipment on site. The company says its local crew remains ready to restart operations as soon as conditions allow.
