Société Générale Maroc announces Mehdi Benbachir as CEO

The Supervisory Board of Société Générale Maroc announced the appointment of Mehdi Benbachir as CEO.

Mr. Benbachir will also continue his role as a member of the Management Board.

Professional background of Mehdi Benbachir:

Before joining Société Générale Maroc, Mehdi Benbachir spent six years in investment banking, specializing in mergers and acquisitions as well as private equity.

In 2005, he joined Société Générale Maroc’s Corporate Banking division. By 2008, he was leading the Advisory division, supporting corporate clients with high-level financial operations. In 2013, he expanded his responsibilities to oversee all investment banking activities, including advisory services, trading, securities, brokerage, research, asset management, and private equity.

In 2018, Benbachir was promoted to Deputy CEO, overseeing the Investment Banking Business Unit along with Strategy, Marketing, Quality, and Innovation.

By July 2020, he took on the role of Deputy CEO in charge of Retail Banking, managing services for individual customers, professionals, and small businesses.

In December 2022, he became a member of the Management Board. As of July 1, 2024, Benbachir steps into the CEO role, directly supervising Regional Delegations, the Retail Business Unit, the SME Business Unit, and the Marketing Department.
