UIR and Brussels University Hospital join forces on healthcare training and research

UIR and the International Faculty of Medicine at the International University of Rabat have signed a partnership with Brussels University Hospital

International University Hospital of Rabat (UIR) and the International Faculty of Medicine at the International University of Rabat have signed a partnership with Brussels University Hospital and Academisch Ziekenhuis Brussel.

The deal was signed during a ceremony attended by Belgium’s ambassador to Morocco, Gilles Heyvaert. The goal is simple. Doctors, teachers and specialists from both countries will share knowledge and experience.

The partners plan to share hospital management methods and create patient care pathways between Morocco and Belgium. They will also work together on medical research and innovation.

To launch the partnership, experts from both countries held workshops in Rabat on clinical and organisational issues. Senior staff from Brussels travelled to Morocco, while others joined the sessions online.

This move strengthens medical and academic ties between the two countries.

UIR has built many global partnerships since opening in 2010. It works with more than 200 institutions across five continents.

UIR started as a public-private partnership between the Moroccan government and international experts. One early collaboration was with the School of Architecture of Nancy in 2013.

In 2017, UIR partnered with IHECS in Brussels to expand its media and communications training. The programme prepares journalists and communication specialists for the African market.

The International Faculty of Dental Medicine also works closely with dental schools in Nantes and Nancy. These links support student exchanges and shared clinical training.

UIR now has 221 partner universities in 50 countries. Many take part in the Erasmus+ programme, which allows students and professors to study and teach in Europe.

The growing network helped UIR become the first private university in Morocco to receive full state recognition for its diplomas. Its degrees are now treated the same as those from public universities.
