Crédit Agricole du Maroc has signed a partnership with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and Groupement AT Saïss to help 360 rural women start or grow their businesses.

The agreement was signed on 25 June by Mohammed Fikrat, President of the Management Board of Crédit Agricole du Maroc Group, Mark Bowman, EBRD Vice President for Policy and Partnerships, and Mehdi Zirari, Deputy Chief Executive of Groupement AT Saïss.

The programme will support women who are members of cooperatives, farmers and entrepreneurs. It will offer financial education, business training and better access to finance.

The partners said the programme is designed to help rural women earn more, grow their businesses and play a bigger role in their local economies.

They also said the initiative supports efforts to make Morocco’s farming sector more inclusive, stronger and better able to deal with future challenges.
