A fire broke out Thursday evening in the cargo area operated by Royal Air Maroc at Casablanca’s Mohammed V Airport. In a statement released Friday, Morocco’s national airport authority confirmed that the blaze was fully contained and, importantly, no injuries were reported.
The fire was detected around 7:30 p.m., prompting an immediate and coordinated emergency response. Airport firefighters, supported by the Airport Firefighting Service (SLIA), quickly mobilized, joined by teams from Civil Protection and the Royal Gendarmerie.
By 9:00 p.m., the fire had been brought under complete control. While there were no casualties, authorities confirmed that material damage did occur. However, the full extent of those losses has not yet been disclosed.
An investigation is now underway to determine what sparked the incident.
