Averroès International University has officially opened its doors in Casablanca, marking the debut of a new academic institution that aims to become a leader in innovation and higher education in Morocco. The launch event took place on Thursday and was attended by Younes Sekkouri, Morocco’s Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment, and Skills. His presence underscored the government’s support for an initiative designed to bridge the gap between education and the evolving demands of the workforce.
Backed by a strategic partnership with CDG Invest, the university seeks to shape a new generation of professionals equipped not just with technical know-how, but also with a global mindset. Its educational model is rooted in close collaboration with the private sector, aiming to stay responsive to labor market trends and employer needs.
During the opening ceremony, Sekkouri stressed the urgency of preparing students for rapidly shifting career landscapes. He also announced a new series of student engagement events, designed to foster open dialogue with young people and highlight the job prospects emerging from the country’s major development projects.
Rachid Mrabet, president of the university, outlined the institution’s academic structure, which will revolve around three core schools: a business school, an engineering school, and a law faculty. The curriculum is designed to blend technical training with soft skills and a strong sense of civic responsibility.
Mrabet emphasized the university’s broader mission—to promote an educational model grounded in social responsibility, sustainability, and inclusion. The goal is to develop graduates who are not only well-prepared for a competitive job market, but who are also committed to contributing meaningfully to society.
Located in the Sidi Maârouf district on the road to Nouaceur, the new campus has the capacity to host up to 2,500 students. The facility features state-of-the-art infrastructure aimed at encouraging creativity, collaboration, and innovation among both students and faculty.
The university received its official accreditation following a meeting of Morocco’s National Commission for Higher Education Coordination, held on April 25.
