Orange Maroc is gearing up for the next generation of mobile connectivity through a strategic alliance with Ericsson, marking a major overhaul of its network infrastructure. The telecom operator has signed a new deal with the Swedish tech giant aimed at modernizing its core systems and laying the foundation for a full-scale rollout of standalone 5G. This transformation is not just about faster speeds—it’s designed to unlock an entire ecosystem of next-generation digital services.
At the heart of this revamp is the integration of cloud-native technologies, tailor-made to support the demands of future 5G applications. One of the centerpieces of the initiative is the deployment of Ericsson’s Cloud Core Policy Controller, which is expected to boost network resilience, increase capacity, and create the technical conditions necessary for new digital experiences to emerge. Alongside this, the project involves expanding the current IMS and Packet Core sites, essential for supporting advanced 4G services, VoLTE capabilities, and the initial phases of 5G implementation.
Orange Maroc’s teams will also push forward with further automation of the network infrastructure. This will be driven by upgraded software tools provided by Ericsson—tools that are already instrumental in managing the operator’s network operations and will now be enhanced to streamline orchestration even further.
The initiative reflects a long-standing relationship between the two companies, who have been working together for over two decades. More broadly, the project aligns with Morocco’s national digital transformation agenda—Maroc Digital 2030. By investing in a more agile and resilient network, Orange Maroc is positioning itself as a key player in shaping the country’s digital future.
