Scorching heat is expected to grip parts of the country this weekend, just in time for the Eid al-Adha celebrations. According to the national meteorological service, temperatures on Saturday and Sunday are forecast to soar between 100 and 109 degrees Fahrenheit across several regions.
This intense heatwave will coincide with one of the most important holidays in the Muslim calendar, adding an extra layer of concern for those planning outdoor gatherings and religious rituals. The areas expected to be hardest hit include Ouezzane, Guercif, Taza, Taounate, Khouribga, Fquih Ben Salah, Settat, and El Kelâa des Sraghna. The meteorological office has issued an orange-level heat alert for these provinces, indicating potentially dangerous conditions.
Authorities are urging residents to stay hydrated, avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours, and take precautions, especially when handling livestock or preparing for traditional festivities. With temperatures pushing extreme highs, the holiday weekend is shaping up to be not only spiritually significant but physically demanding as well.
