Morocco’s Horse Week gallops into Its 40th year with thrilling competitions

The 40th edition of Morocco’s prestigious Horse Week kicked off Saturday at the Royal Equestrian and Tbourida Complex in Dar Es Salam, Rabat. Held under the High Patronage of King Mohammed VI, this event has, for four decades, been a key date on the calendar for the country’s equestrian community, drawing riders and fans from across the nation.

Throughout the year, Moroccan riders have faced off in regional qualifiers, each competing for a coveted spot in this major equestrian gathering, which runs until July 13. Around 400 rider-horse pairs are taking part in show jumping and dressage competitions, reflecting the country’s enduring passion and growing enthusiasm for equestrian sports.

The nine-day event is already well underway, with early competitions setting the tone. In the Amateur Moroccan Championship, Adam Jalal Mansour, riding Ezaa, secured the top spot by completing a flawless round in just 51.39 seconds. He was closely followed by Lina Ouardi on Rawhanat Raselmaa, who edged out Yassine Attaoui riding Rachad II. The atmosphere has been marked by intense competition, mutual respect, and true sportsmanship.

In the Under-21 category, the first qualifying round saw Mohamed Bouziane claim victory aboard Vega City with a time of 55.03 seconds. Malak Zidani and Hamza Allali delivered strong performances as well, handling the challenging course with composure and determination. The young riders stood out not only for their technical skill but also for their focus and drive.

In the amateur senior division, the opening event was dominated by Driss Moubachchir on Hailey de Berdil, who claimed first place. Yahya Debbagh, riding Vitanny DH Z, took second, followed by Ahmed Tidjani on Diva. The competition remained fierce late into the evening, as each rider aimed to leave their mark on this fiercely contested championship.

The excitement continues with a packed schedule that brings together riders from every level—youngsters, seasoned amateurs, military teams, and even athletes from Special Olympics Morocco. Every day, the Royal Complex comes alive with the cheers of an enthusiastic crowd, eager to support the competitors and share in the deep-rooted love of horses that this event celebrates.
