LabelVie rides high on 16% sales growth and 44 new stores

LabelVie posted a strong performance in the second quarter, with revenue jumping 16.1%, marking a clear acceleration in its growth trajectory. This momentum is driven by a steady increase in customer traffic and a well-balanced expansion across its various retail formats.

Since the start of the year, the group has opened 44 new stores, the vast majority under the Supeco banner, which has helped extend its footprint well beyond the Greater Casablanca region. By the end of June, LabelVie’s network had grown to 314 stores, up from 270 at the close of last year.

Alongside this retail push, the company has also significantly increased its total sales area, which now spans over 314,000 square meters—an expansion of more than 6,400 square meters since January. Each store format has contributed differently to the overall performance: the Atacadao discount chain led the way with a 20.7% boost, followed by a 15.3% gain for supermarkets and a more modest 6.9% growth for hypermarkets.

Even without factoring in the effect of new store openings, LabelVie’s operations are trending upward. Like-for-like sales rose 4%, a solid indicator of organic growth. The company’s multi-format approach, combined with a more favorable economic climate, appears to be winning over a broader customer base.

In the first half of the year alone, LabelVie’s various retail chains attracted over 41 million shoppers—a 23% surge compared to the same period in 2024. Much of this spike in foot traffic is linked to the growing popularity of its hyper cash segment, which continues to gain momentum.

The group has invested heavily to support this expansion, with capital expenditures totaling 751 million dirhams since January. Of that, 420 million dirhams were spent in the second quarter alone. These funds cover both recent store openings and those planned for later in the year. Net debt now stands at 4.114 billion dirhams, up slightly by 141 million since December. Despite this, LabelVie maintains it is largely financing its growth through internal resources.

The company remains confident in its full-year targets, aiming to increase its total retail space by 15 to 20% and achieve annual revenue of 19 billion dirhams.
