Attawfiq Microfinance, a subsidiary of the BCP Group, has joined forces with the State Secretariat for Handicrafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy, sealing their partnership during the National Conference on the Social and Solidarity Economy in Benguérir. The agreement aims to boost economic inclusion and give fresh momentum to a sector seen as a key driver of Morocco’s development.
The partnership sets out a framework for joint action on several fronts. It includes specialized training and mentoring programs, tailored financing options for project developers, and support for initiatives tied to handicrafts and the broader social economy. Both parties are committed to fostering innovative businesses rooted in local realities and capable of delivering tangible social benefits.
Special focus will be placed on reaching young people, women, and communities that remain underserved by traditional financial services. Attawfiq Microfinance plans to leverage its nationwide network of 500 branches to ensure wide outreach, while the State Secretariat will contribute its sector-specific expertise.
The initiative aligns with the King’s vision of placing the social economy at the center of national development strategies. It also strengthens Attawfiq Microfinance’s role in bringing vulnerable populations into the formal banking system and in driving entrepreneurship through projects that are both sustainable and inclusive.
