Guizhou Tyre eyes Morocco for next global manufacturing hub

Chinese tire manufacturer Guizhou Tyre has announced plans to establish a new production facility in Morocco, marking what would be its second international expansion after its existing operations in Vietnam. The move is part of a broader strategy aimed at boosting the company’s global competitiveness and optimizing its manufacturing network.

While the project is still in the early planning stages, many key details remain undecided. The exact scope of the future site and the size of the investment have yet to be finalized. A feasibility study is currently underway, and once completed, the proposal will need to go through the necessary regulatory review before any formal announcements are made.

Guizhou Tyre, founded in 1958 and listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, specializes in the production of tires for trucks, buses, and off-the-road (OTR) vehicles. The company markets its products under the brands Advance, Samson, and Tornado, and exports to more than 100 countries and regions worldwide.

Morocco is already home to another Chinese tire giant, Sentury, which operates a plant in Tangier. That facility primarily serves the U.S. market and received full clearance from U.S. authorities to do so. The potential entry of Guizhou Tyre would further solidify Morocco’s growing position as a strategic industrial hub for the global tire industry—both regionally and internationally.
