Casablanca takes off: Royal Air Maroc launches direct flights to Chad

Royal Air Maroc has launched a new direct route connecting Casablanca to N’Djamena, the capital of Chad, marking a fresh push into Central Africa. The inaugural flight took off from Mohammed V Airport at 11:40 p.m. on Wednesday and landed in N’Djamena at 5:05 a.m. the next morning, officially opening the airline’s 29th African route.

Flights will now operate twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. This new service is a direct response to growing demand from Chadian travelers, particularly those seeking easier connections to Europe and the Americas.

The move is part of Royal Air Maroc’s broader strategy to position Casablanca as a major hub linking Africa with the rest of the world. CEO Hamid Addou emphasized that the airline’s expansion reflects a strong commitment to the continent, aligned with King Mohammed VI’s vision to deepen South-South cooperation across Africa.

Traditionally focused on West Africa, Royal Air Maroc is now extending its reach into less connected regions, including Central and East Africa. This new route to Chad not only fills a gap in air connectivity but also strengthens the airline’s presence in under-served markets, enhancing intra-African links and regional mobility.

Alongside this network expansion, the airline continues to modernize its fleet, prioritizing African routes for its newest aircraft. The aim is to deliver a travel experience that meets international standards in safety, comfort, and reliability.

By broadening its footprint across the continent and offering more flight options, Royal Air Maroc is reinforcing its ambition to become the leading carrier in African air travel while boosting Morocco’s role as a strategic gateway for international passengers.
