The Terramar arrives: CUPRA’s stylish plug-in hybrid hits Morocco

CUPRA Maroc pulled out all the stops for the unveiling of its latest plug-in hybrid SUV, the Terramar, hosting an unforgettable launch event along Casablanca’s newly renovated Corniche. Set against the dramatic backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean, the evening was more than just a car reveal—it was a statement of intent, highlighting the brand’s growing ambitions in the Moroccan automotive landscape.

From the first glance, the Terramar makes a bold impression. Its sharp, sculpted lines, matte copper accents, and distinctive shark-inspired grille give it a commanding presence. Measuring 4.5 meters in length and built on the MQB evo platform, the SUV blends a sporty silhouette with precision detailing. Signature triangular lighting elements and a sleek rear LED strip tie it visually to CUPRA’s distinctive design language.

Under the hood, the Terramar delivers a modern hybrid powertrain, pairing a TSI gasoline engine with an advanced electric motor. Buyers can choose between two versions—one with 204 horsepower and a sportier VZ edition that pushes output beyond 270 horsepower. A 25.8 kWh battery provides an all-electric range of over 120 kilometers, positioning the Terramar as one of the most capable plug-in hybrids in its class. Fast charging and smart energy management round out a system designed for both city commutes and longer road trips.

Inside, the focus is squarely on the driver. The cabin features a driver-centric layout with a tilted central console, premium recycled materials, and subtle copper detailing that enhances the immersive feel. At the heart of the digital cockpit is a 12.9-inch touchscreen, seamlessly integrating wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A 12-speaker Sennheiser sound system elevates the audio experience, adding another layer of refinement.

The launch event itself was an experience in its own right, built around the theme “The Red Thread that connects us.” Guests were welcomed through a tunnel of LEDs, stepping into a sensory space that blended the oceanic environment with futuristic visuals. At the center of the staging stood the Terramar, surrounded by a striking, tech-forward installation. The evening drew a diverse crowd of journalists, partners, customers, and CUPRA fans—who also had the chance to celebrate the revitalization of Casablanca’s iconic Corniche.

With the Terramar, CUPRA is clearly targeting a new breed of driver—those who want performance and personality, but also value sustainability and smart innovation. The brand’s newest offering positions itself not just as another SUV, but as a bold answer to a market in transition.
