Morocco and Italy are joining forces to launch an ambitious new economic initiative set to debut in February 2026. The Global Investment Economic Forum (GIEF), to be held in Marrakech, aims to establish itself as the first dedicated platform for Moroccan-Italian economic cooperation, with a broader goal of bridging Europe and Africa through sustainable investment and innovation.
Driven by a new generation of Moroccan-Italian leaders committed to deepening bilateral ties, the forum is designed to spark dialogue, encourage collaboration, and generate tangible outcomes across multiple sectors. For several days, the historic city of Marrakech will host a diverse array of participants—including business executives, government officials, cultural figures, and institutional leaders from both countries, as well as other international guests.
At its core, the GIEF seeks to create a dynamic environment for strategic discussions and high-level networking. Positioned as an economic bridge between two continents, the forum is focused on promoting impact-driven investment, fostering mutual growth, and reinforcing shared values such as trust, innovation, and sustainability.
The gathering will bring together a wide spectrum of voices: CEOs, policymakers, diplomats, luxury industry professionals, tourism and retail leaders, tech entrepreneurs, and economic media. Their goal? To explore how Morocco and Italy can leverage their historical and cultural connections, geographic proximity, and favorable institutional frameworks to unlock new opportunities.
According to organizers, the forum will center around three main thematic pillars. The first will explore sustainable tourism and high-end hospitality, with particular attention to heritage preservation and evolving traveler expectations. The second will spotlight innovation and the startup ecosystem, encouraging dialogue around tech partnerships, venture funding, and digital transformation. Finally, the creative industries will take the stage, showcasing the economic potential of sectors like film, design, music, publishing, and traditional craftsmanship.
By combining local strengths with international ambition, the Global Investment Economic Forum positions itself as a catalyst for next-generation partnerships and a fresh chapter in Mediterranean cooperation.
