Heavy rainfall in Agadir has prompted local authorities to ramp up emergency response efforts as the city faces widespread weather-related disruptions. In response to the persistent downpours, the urban council has mobilized its teams, working in coordination with various departments, to minimize disturbances and ensure public safety.
Sanitation and environmental services have been placed on high alert to manage rainwater runoff and prevent potential flooding. Their goal is to keep major roads open and avoid traffic paralysis in key areas of the city. Currently, 96 field workers and 12 team leaders are actively deployed, backed by a well-equipped fleet capable of operating continuously in high-risk zones.
Ongoing operations focus on clearing blocked drains, maintaining stormwater systems, and securing vulnerable locations. Several neighborhoods have already been targeted for intervention, along with main roads and Agadir’s tourist district—areas where flooding could cause significant disruption.
City officials are closely monitoring weather developments and have pledged to adjust their response strategy if conditions worsen. The initiative reflects a broader commitment to minimizing the impact of extreme weather on residents’ daily lives and protecting the city’s infrastructure during periods of intense rain.
