Morocco’s Car of the Year: 7 finalists revealed after intense testing

On January 6 and 7, the Moroccan Vehicle Importers Association (AIVAM) held the seventh edition of its annual Car of the Year event. Following the format of previous years, the event combined both static and dynamic vehicle testing, bringing together a jury of seasoned automotive journalists and industry experts to evaluate over 40 competing models.

Over the course of two days, a diverse lineup of 43 vehicles—spanning a wide range of brands and cutting-edge technologies—was put through its paces. The jury, made up of both Moroccan and international professionals with established credibility in the automotive world, conducted the evaluations under the supervision of a court-appointed official to ensure transparency. The assessment followed a strict set of criteria, including value for money, innovation and connectivity, interior comfort, environmental impact, driving performance and safety, as well as everyday usability.

After this rigorous testing phase, seven finalists emerged from the pack. The models moving on to the final round are: the Cupra Terramar, Dacia Bigster, Ford Territory, Kia EV3, Lynk & Co 08, Renault 5 E-Tech, and the Soueast O6. The winning vehicle will be announced in the coming days.

This year’s jury was chaired by Moulay Ahmed Belghiti (Les Écos) and featured a wide range of prominent figures from the automotive media and industry. Participants included Nabil Sbaï Tanji (Je veux acheter une voiture!), Jalil Bennani (Driverslife.ma), Essam Chraibi (wandaloo.com), David Jeremie (Challenge-Tomobile 360), Mourad Khezzari (Gentlemen Drivers), Alexandre Pinault (L’Observateur Automobiles), Jérémy Moretti (UTAC expert), Hatim Bouazer (Leguideauto.ma), Ahmed Darouich (Avito.ma), Khadija Dinia (Myluxurylife.ma), Hatim Kaghat (automotive expert), Mohamed Akisra (Drive In), Leila Benjelloun (Golf du Maroc), and Mehdi Laaboudi (Maxmag.ma).

In a press release, AIVAM expressed its gratitude to all partners who contributed to this year’s edition. The organization gave special thanks to its main sponsor, Afriquia, and acknowledged its Silver-tier supporters: EQDOM, SALAFIN, SOFAC, WAFASALAF, and VIVALIS.
