Moroccan payment firm M2T has won two major awards at the 20th Africa Pay & ID Expo in Marrakech.
The company, part of the Groupe BCP, was recognised in the Mobile and Payment categories, ahead of several fintechs and technology operators active across Africa.
Its Chaabi Pay wallet was named Best Innovative Mobile Solution. The company says it is the first wallet of its kind in Morocco to offer a range of alternative financial products. It is mainly aimed at people on modest incomes and those with limited access to traditional banking services.
M2T says the tool was designed to widen access to financial services and bring more people into the formal financial system.
A second product, Chaabi Payment, launched in July 2025, was awarded Best Innovative Payment Solution. The service focuses on card payment processing and has been rolled out on electronic payment terminals and online shopping platforms.
The company says the offer quickly gained ground in its first months and helped modernise card payments in the country.
M2T is a subsidiary of Groupe BCP and is licensed by Bank Al-Maghrib. Since 1 May 2025, it has also been authorised by the central bank as a payment acquirer.
The firm operates a network of more than 7,000 points of sale. These include money transfer services through Chaabi Cash, multi-service payments via Tasshilat, and mobile money through the Chaabi Pay app.
M2T says the awards reflect its commitment to socially responsible financial and digital inclusion.
