Moroccan defender Nayef Aguerd has had a successful operation to fix a groin injury that had been bothering him for months.
Aguerd shared on social media that the pain had become part of his daily life. “Since October, I’ve been in pain from the moment I wake up until I go to sleep, sometimes even during the night,” he said. “I tried all the medical treatments over the past months, but it wasn’t enough. Surgery was the only option.”

Olympique de Marseille’s defender thanked the doctors who helped him, including Dr. Gilles Riboul, who performed the operation, and Dr. Christophe Boudou from the national team, along with Marseille’s medical staff for their support.
“Now it’s time to rest and recover,” Aguerd added. “My goal is to come back fully fit and pain-free, ready to help Marseille in the final part of the season.”
Marseille coach Habib Beye confirmed the surgery before the club’s match against AJ Auxerre. “Nayef had surgery and it went well,” he said.
The club hasn’t said exactly how long Aguerd will be out, but French reports suggest about eight weeks. He’ll start with a week of rest, then move on to rehab, running, ball work, and gradually returning to team training.
