Moroccan computer science school 1337 has taken first place in the CodinGame Winter Challenge 2026, an international competition that attracted thousands of developers from around the world. This year’s event, called SnakeByte, tested participants on building artificial intelligence to play a complex game, requiring skills in pathfinding, survival strategies, and competitive problem-solving.
1337 finished ahead of the University of Wroclaw in Poland, which came second, and 42 Paris, which placed third. Other campuses from the 42 Network also ranked in the global top ten, highlighting the network’s strength in coding education. This victory is not a one-off. 1337 has steadily improved over the years through peer learning, hands-on practice, and constant experimentation.
The school has no teachers, no lectures, and no tuition fees. It is open 24/7, letting students progress at their own pace through a gamified curriculum. The achievement shows that Morocco can now compete at the highest levels of coding and AI development.
Success in competitions like this is noticed by major tech companies such as Google, Meta, and OpenAI. By securing a permanent spot among the world’s top coding schools, 1337 is putting Morocco on the map as a hub for elite software engineering talent.
1337 trains students to solve complex problems independently and collaboratively, preparing them for careers in demanding technical environments.
