Thousands of runners will soon take to the streets of Casablanca as the city prepares for the 2026 edition of the 10KM International by WeCasablanca on Sunday 17 May. Organisers expect 15,000 participants after last year’s race brought together 12,000 runners from 52 nationalities.
The event began in 2017 with 1,100 runners. It now attracts 200 elite athletes and has become a regular fixture on the African running calendar. Organisers say the race reflects Casablanca’s ambition to position itself as a global hub for urban sport.
Mohamed Jouahri, General Manager of Casablanca Events & Animation, said: “The 10KM International is no longer just an athletic event, it is a platform for Casablanca’s influence. Our objective is to consolidate this synergy between organizational excellence and popular fervor to permanently include the metropolis in the calendar of major world competitions while offering Casablancans an event that reflects the dynamism and openness of their city.”
The 2025 edition recorded 540 international runners. The event generated more than 1.5 million digital impressions. The Race Village attracted 25,000 visitors and served as a space for community engagement.
The race will start at 08:30 on Boulevard Al Massira. The certified route will pass through Boulevard d’Anfa and the Corniche.
