The Moroccan Centre for Banking Mediation, Al Wassit Albanki, signed two agreements in Rabat to help more people settle disputes with banks without going to court. The signing took place during a board meeting chaired by Bank Al-Maghrib governor Abdellatif Jouahri.

The agreements were signed by Abdellatif Jouahri, Bouazza Kherrati, head of the Moroccan Federation for Consumer Rights, and Ouadi Madih, head of the National Federation of Consumer Associations. The goal is to let customers use banking mediation through consumer protection groups linked to the two federations.

The plan aims to bring mediation services closer to people who have problems with their bank. Consumer associations across the country will help guide and support customers who want to solve disputes without starting legal action.

The deals also aim to make banking mediation better known, as many people still do not know it exists. Consumer groups will help inform customers and direct them towards friendly settlement options.

Al Wassit Albanki said, “The signing extends collaboration with the two federations that began more than a year ago. Several meetings, exchanges and seminars were organised during this period on the role of banking mediation and its benefits for consumers.”

The centre added, “The agreements strengthen a national system based on trust and proximity. Settling bank disputes amicably improves access to rights for customers and helps make relations between banks and clients smoother.”
