The Egyptian hotel group Pick Albatros Hotels & Resorts is close to buying the Mövenpick Casablanca hotel. The deal is being done through its Moroccan subsidiary, Albatros Prestige Groupe SA. The purchase includes the hotel’s buildings and business assets. These are currently owned by Sanlam Maroc SA and its subsidiary Luxor SA.
The hotel is in a central location in Casablanca. The deal is part of the group’s wider push into Morocco’s high-end hotel market. Albatros Prestige Groupe SA was set up for this transaction and is backed by Pick Albatros Holding for Financial Investments S.A.E. Sanlam Maroc is selling the property as part of a change in strategy.
The price has not been made public. The hotel will join the Pick Albatros portfolio once regulators approve the deal. The sale comes as Casablanca’s luxury hotel sector sees new investment and repositioning.
“The operation confirms the growing interest of international operators for strategic hotel assets in the economic capital.”
The expansion is part of a $200m plan led by chairman Kamel Abou Ali. The group now runs more than 2,600 hotel rooms in Morocco. The investment is linked to growing tourism and the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
Pick Albatros has made several recent deals in Morocco. In April 2026, it bought the Sofitel Casablanca Tour Blanche from Risma for MAD 450m, about $45m. This strengthens its position in the business travel market in Casablanca.
The Pickalbatros Sungo Club in Marrakech opened in late 2025. The 341-room resort is a renovated historic property. The group also reopened the 410-room Palais des Roses in Agadir, expanding into seaside tourism. A major deal in Marrakech in 2024 added the Palmeraie Palace and Golf Hotel, increasing capacity by more than 600 rooms.
