Morocco is bringing its tourism campaign to the streets of New York as it looks to make the most of the excitement around the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Moroccan National Tourism Office has launched a major advertising push across the city to encourage more people to visit the country and raise Morocco’s profile with international travellers.

The campaign is centred on Times Square, where giant digital screens are displaying Morocco’s tourism slogan, “Morocco, Kingdom of Light”, to millions of people every day.

A live flashmob is also being held in the area, combining traditional Moroccan dance with modern styles. The event is designed to showcase Moroccan culture and attract attention on social media.

The campaign goes beyond Times Square. Dozens of New York’s famous yellow taxis have been covered in Moroccan branding and are travelling through Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens.

Tourism officials hope the taxis will keep Morocco top of mind for both New Yorkers and tourists as they move around the city.

The New York campaign is part of a wider international promotion effort. It builds on the “Morocco, Land of Football” partnership between the Moroccan National Tourism Office and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.

The two organisations say they want to strengthen Morocco’s image as both a leading football nation and an attractive destination for visitors ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
