People across Morocco will now be able to use Orange Money and sign up for Orange mobile services at more than 5,200 Cash Plus branches under a new partnership between the two companies.
The move gives Orange Maroc access to one of the country’s largest service networks. Around 23% of Cash Plus branches are in rural areas, making it easier for people outside major cities to access mobile money and telecom services.
Orange Money customers can now deposit and withdraw cash at Cash Plus branches by giving their phone number. Transactions are completed instantly and customers receive a printed receipt.
The companies said the partnership aims to make mobile payments easier to use and support financial inclusion across Morocco.
Customers can also subscribe to Orange mobile plans at Cash Plus branches. The companies said this is the first step in a wider plan to expand telecom services through the network.
Cash Plus already offers money transfers, bill payments, mobile top ups, ticketing, currency exchange and administrative services.
“By leveraging the widespread reach of the Cash Plus network, we are bringing Orange Money closer to the daily lives of Moroccans and making cash deposits and withdrawals accessible everywhere. This partnership strengthens the use of mobile payment, while offering customers a simple, secure, and local experience,” said Marwane Belakbir, General Manager of Orange Money Maroc.
Nabil Amar, Chief Executive Officer of Cash Plus, said: “With this partnership, we are putting our local multi-service network at the service of Moroccans, whether for mobile payment or access to daily telecom services. This is a new step in our ambition for financial inclusion. By relying on more than 5,200 service points across the Kingdom, we want to bring Moroccans closer to the essential services of their daily lives, wherever they are.”
Orange Money is a digital wallet linked to a mobile phone number. Anyone aged 18 or over can open an account, no matter which mobile operator they use.
The service lets users deposit and withdraw cash, send and receive money in Morocco, receive transfers from abroad, and transfer money to and from bank accounts.
Users can also pay phone, water and electricity bills, pay shops that accept MarocPay, buy mobile credit and recharge Jawaz motorway passes.
Every transaction must be approved with a personal four-digit PIN.
Orange Money offers three account levels. The basic account has a limit of 1,000 dirhams and can be opened through the app or USSD. Accounts with limits of 20,000 dirhams and 100,000 dirhams require identity checks, while the highest level also requires proof of address.
