Marchica Med says the first phase of its Cocody Bay redevelopment project in Ivory Coast is now more than 90% complete. The company gave the update during a meeting in Abidjan on financing Ivory Coast’s 2026-2030 National Development Plan. It also said it wants to keep supporting large development projects across Africa.
Marchica Med Chief Executive Loubna Boutaleb met Tourism and Leisure Minister Siandou Fofana on the sidelines of the event. Morocco’s ambassador to Ivory Coast, Othmane El Ferdaous, also attended the meeting.
They reviewed progress on the Cocody Bay project, which began after King Mohammed VI’s state visit to Ivory Coast in 2015 as part of cooperation between the two countries.
The first phase includes restoring the bay’s environment and building the project’s main infrastructure. Work is now more than 90% complete.
The two sides also agreed to prepare a joint roadmap for the long-term management of the bay and to make the best use of the new infrastructure.
The project includes restoring the lagoon ecosystem, building hydraulic and maritime structures, upgrading roads, and developing a marina, an urban park, and new residential, tourism and leisure areas.
Once finished, the project is expected to turn Cocody Bay into a major urban and tourism hub in Abidjan.
Marchica Med Africa, the group’s African subsidiary, is leading the work using experience gained from restoring the Marchica Lagoon in Nador. The company is working with Moroccan engineering firms and businesses alongside Ivorian partners on environmental restoration, urban planning, tourism development and infrastructure.
