CAM tells diaspora investors: we can help get your project moving

Crédit Agricole du Maroc (CAM) brought Moroccan business owners and investors living abroad together in Marrakech on 8 August. CAM presented its services for people living abroad who want to start or expand a business in the country. The bank also used the event to connect investors with its teams and institutional partners.

Several business owners shared their experiences with CAM.

One project founder said: “On this occasion, I would like to thank Crédit Agricole du Maroc. It was not just a bank that financed the project, but a partner that stood alongside us to smooth proceedings, handle red tape, and believe in us from day one. Investment does not mean just financing, as it needs an investment partner who can lead the investor to success. Today, we work on a project that will create job opportunities in Morocco, develop agriculture and manufacturing, and contribute to raising exports. All that is thanks to Crédit Agricole du Maroc.”

An entrepreneur from Antwerp, who represents Flemish business owners of Moroccan origin, said: “On behalf of the Flemish entrepreneurs of Moroccan origin in the city of Antwerp in Belgium, I thank Crédit Agricole for this initiative and hope it will be repeated next year. I would like to attest that I have always believed in this bank, especially with how they work with investors from the diaspora and how they welcomed us in all corners of Morocco. I hope this initiative will expand throughout Belgium and Europe.”

CAM offers several financing options for people living abroad who want to invest in the country.

The bank can finance investment projects starting at 1m dirhams in sectors such as industry, services and rural businesses.

It also offers products such as Sakan Qaraoui and state-backed housing funds. These can help MREs buy land, build homes or develop agricultural projects.

CAM also helps investors deal with paperwork.

Its advisers work with Regional Investment Centres and local authorities on issues such as approvals, setting up companies and other administrative procedures.

Agriculture is another key area for the bank. CAM works with investors on farming, agri-tech and food processing projects.

The bank also has teams across Morocco and works with Moroccan business communities in Europe to help investors find opportunities and set up projects.
