AKDITAL has opened its first hospital in Saudi Arabia, marking the Moroccan healthcare group’s first move into the Gulf. The 140-bed hospital in Riyadh’s Al Olaya district is now open and receiving patients. It has more than 50 specialised medical units, 11 operating and procedure rooms, more than 30 critical-care beds and an 18-bed emergency department.
The hospital offers treatment in areas including cardiology, oncology, haematology, gastroenterology, ophthalmology, dialysis and diabetes care. It also has maternity, fertility and IVF services.
AKDITAL plans to invest 5.3bn Saudi riyals ($1.4bn) in Saudi Arabia by 2030. The group plans to open up to six hospitals in major Saudi cities.
The expansion comes as Saudi Arabia seeks to bring more private investment into healthcare under its Vision 2030 programme.
AKDITAL already runs 45 healthcare facilities in 25 cities in Morocco and is listed on the Casablanca Stock Exchange.
The Riyadh hospital is the first step in a wider Saudi expansion, with the group planning to adapt its healthcare model to local regulations and the needs of patients in the kingdom.
