BYD has added a new plug-in hybrid SUV to its line-up in Morocco. The Ti 7 is now on sale through Auto Nejma, with prices starting at 459,900 dirhams. The five-seat SUV uses a petrol engine and two electric motors. Together, they produce 483 horsepower. The car can go from 0 to 100km/h in 4.8 seconds and has a top speed of 190km/h. The Ti 7 can also drive on electric power alone. Its 35.6kWh battery gives it an electric range of up to 130km under the WLTP test cycle. The petrol engine gives the SUV a claimed total range of up to 870km. Fuel consumption is rated at 6.6 litres per 100km.
Fast charging can take the battery from 30% to 80% in about 20 minutes. The car supports DC charging at up to 73kW and AC charging at up to 7.6kW.
The SUV is more than five metres long and has a 2.92-metre wheelbase. It has 485 litres of boot space, which increases to 1,813 litres when the rear seats are folded.
The Ti 7 comes with several driving modes, including Sport, Eco, Comfort, Race and Crawl. It also has off-road modes for mud, sand, snow and mountain driving.
The safety package includes automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning and blind-spot detection. The car also has six airbags and eight parking sensors.
Two versions are available: Design and Premium. The Premium version adds features such as a 26-inch head-up display, heated, ventilated and massaging front seats, and an onboard refrigerator.
The Ti 7 is available in six exterior colours and three interior options.
Auto Nejma sells the SUV through its dealerships in Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, Fes, Tangier, Agadir and Oujda. The distributor also provides an eight-year or 160,000km warranty for the battery.
BYD entered the Moroccan market in late 2022. The company now has more than 60% of the country’s battery-electric vehicle market, according to figures provided by Auto Nejma.
The new Ti 7 gives BYD another option for drivers who want electric driving for shorter trips but still need a petrol engine for longer journeys.
