Our editorial team is deeply saddened to report the passing of Leila Meziane Benjelloun, president of the BMCE Foundation for Education and Training and wife of Othman Benjelloun, President of the Bank of Africa Group, on Saturday, July 13, 2024.

Under her leadership, the BMCE Foundation constructed and equipped schools across the Kingdom, particularly in remote areas.

Dr. Leila Mezian Benjelloun also left a significant mark on the cultural world with the creation of the Dr. Leila Mezian Museum in Casablanca. This space, dedicated to modern art and historical Moroccan works, reflects her love for the arts and her commitment to cultural pluralism.

As an ophthalmic surgeon, Leila Meziane practiced medicine for over 25 years in Moroccan hospitals and her clinic. In 2016, she was honored by King Mohammed VI with the Officer’s Class of the Wissam Al Arch.

The entire Nouvelliste Media Group, of which 7news Morocco is a subsidiary, shares in the grief of Mr. Benjelloun, the family, and friends of the deceased, and extends its deepest condolences.
