American company Energy Recovery, known for its advanced energy recovery technologies, has announced a significant contract in Morocco valued at 275 million dirhams (approximately $27.5 million). The deal involves supplying their cutting-edge PX pressure exchanger technology for seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) desalination projects. All orders under this contract are expected to be fulfilled in 2024, according to the Nasdaq-listed company.

Energy Recovery’s PX® technology is renowned for reducing energy consumption by up to 60%, a crucial advantage for Morocco as it faces increasing water scarcity and turns to desalination as a key solution for its future water security.

Beyond the economic benefits, this initiative also represents a strong commitment to environmental sustainability. Once operational, these PX®-equipped projects are projected to prevent the emission of more than 475,000 tons of CO2 annually, equivalent to removing over 100,000 cars from the road.

By investing in such advanced technologies, Morocco is positioning itself as a leader in the sustainable management of water resources, ensuring a more secure and environmentally friendly future.
