In Shanghai, Aziz Akhannouch, Morocco’s Head of Government, met with Lei Xu, president of the global textile leader SUNRISE Group, which has operations across several Asian countries. The meeting was part of Akhannouch’s visit to China, where he represented King Mohammed VI at the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) summit.
Key figures such as Mohcine Jazouli, Minister of Investment, Convergence, and Evaluation of Public Policies, and Ali Seddiki, Director General of the Moroccan Investment and Export Development Agency, were also in attendance.
During the meeting, Akhannouch reaffirmed the Moroccan government’s full support for a major 4.1 billion MAD investment by SUNRISE Group in Morocco. This strategic investment will lead to the creation of 11,000 direct jobs over the next three years, spread across several regions of the country. The project involves the development of industrial complexes covering all stages of the textile production chain.
This investment is expected to breathe new life into Morocco’s textile sector, which is already well-integrated into global value chains. It will also align with the government’s strategy to prioritize job creation, reinforcing the country’s position as a key player in the international textile industry.
