The School of Hospitality Business and Management (SHBM) at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) has earned the coveted status of “Certified School” from the prestigious EHL (École hôtelière de Lausanne), a world leader in hospitality management education since 1893. This achievement marks a significant milestone for SHBM, solidifying its reputation as a premier institution for hospitality education in Morocco and across Africa.

This certification places SHBM as the only school in Africa to receive this recognition and the first in Morocco to reach such a distinguished level. It demonstrates SHBM’s adherence to the rigorous quality standards set by EHL and underscores its commitment to delivering world-class hospitality education.

In tandem with this certification, SHBM celebrates the graduation of its inaugural cohort from the Bachelor in Hospitality Business and Management program. After spending four years as an “associate” member of EHL’s certified network, SHBM now fully offers its graduates the distinction of holding an EHL-accredited degree, alongside the benefits that come with this prestigious affiliation.

SHBM’s certification is a testament to its unwavering focus on academic excellence and continuous improvement. The school boasts a diverse and comprehensive curriculum, supported by cutting-edge infrastructure that meets the demands of the global hospitality industry.

To uphold these high standards, all SHBM faculty members are certified as Qualified Learning Facilitators (QLF), equipping them with advanced pedagogical tools and techniques. This ensures that students receive top-tier education through innovative teaching methods and a forward-thinking approach.

Research, adaptability, and innovation form the backbone of SHBM’s culture. By regularly updating its curriculum, refining learning environments, and integrating the latest technological tools, the school offers an education that seamlessly blends advanced theory with practical experience. Through a hands-on, ‘learning by doing’ approach, students acquire real-world skills in realistic scenarios, preparing them for success in the dynamic global hospitality industry.

“This certification is the result of a close collaboration between SHBM and EHL over the first four years of the school’s development. It highlights the collective efforts of students, faculty, and the entire UM6P ecosystem in creating a sustainable institution for hospitality education,” said Syrab El Malti, Director of SHBM. “This achievement marks an important step in our mission to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and mindset necessary to excel in the fast-paced world of hospitality, while making a positive impact on their communities and beyond.”

The EHL Certified School status opens exciting opportunities for SHBM and its students. In addition to the state-recognized degree from UM6P, SHBM graduates will now also earn an EHL-certified diploma, further enhancing the academic value of their education. This partnership also broadens the scope for student mobility, offering the possibility of transferring to other institutions within the EHL certified school network, enriching their international experience.

Moreover, SHBM faculty will continue to receive specialized training in EHL’s renowned teaching methods, while the school itself will undergo regular evaluations to ensure the highest standards of excellence are maintained.
