In a major step toward advancing Morocco’s digital economy, Orange Maroc, a key player in telecommunications, and Chari.ma, a digital platform designed for local merchants, have announced a strategic partnership aimed at fast-tracking digital transformation among small retailers across the country. This collaboration aligns perfectly with Morocco’s Digital Plan 2030, an ambitious initiative aimed at positioning Morocco as a digital leader in Africa.

Under this partnership, Orange Maroc and Chari.ma will provide tailored digital solutions to Morocco’s network of local retailers. This initiative is more than just a digital upgrade; it’s an effort to reshape how small businesses operate by streamlining transactions, offering new financial services, and ultimately supporting financial inclusion. For Chari.ma, this partnership is further strengthened by its exclusive logistics partner, Dislog Group, whose distribution network will be instrumental in deploying these digital solutions.

The collaboration promises to bring small shopkeepers closer to modern technology, offering them access to digital financial services that were previously out of reach. Hendrik Kasteel, CEO of Orange Maroc, highlighted the company’s commitment: “Our partnership with Chari.ma shows our dedication to Morocco’s digital transformation. By equipping local retailers with high-performing digital tools, we’re enhancing the appeal and functionality of our digital ecosystem.”

Chari.ma’s CEO and co-founder, Ismael Belkhayat, emphasized the partnership’s significance for local shopkeepers, noting that the majority of Moroccan grocers already distribute Orange services. “This collaboration will allow Chari to digitalize the distribution of these services by integrating them into our eCommerce application. This will help train shopkeepers in digital use, advancing digital inclusion for this segment,” he explained.

This partnership goes beyond digital transformation—it represents a strategic effort to position Morocco as a premier digital hub in Africa. By empowering local businesses, Orange Maroc and Chari.ma are not only driving economic development but are also fostering a more inclusive, sustainable future for the country.
