Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has officially inaugurated its direct flight route linking Casablanca to Toronto, marking a major expansion in its transatlantic network. The first flight departed Casablanca’s Mohammed V Airport on Sunday at 4:45 PM local time, carrying 204 passengers. Meanwhile, the maiden return flight from Toronto welcomed 275 travelers, bringing the total passenger count for the inaugural operations to nearly 480.
The Casablanca-Toronto route will operate three times a week on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, utilizing Boeing 787 Dreamliners. According to RAM, the flights will depart Casablanca at 4:45 PM local time and land in Toronto at 7:25 PM local time. Return flights are scheduled to leave Toronto at 9:30 PM and arrive in Casablanca at 10:50 AM the following day.
This new route addresses a long-awaited demand from the Moroccan diaspora in Canada. It complements the well-established Casablanca-Montreal line, which has been in operation since 1975.
The addition of Toronto strengthens RAM’s “Americas” network, which already includes direct flights from Casablanca to New York, Washington, Miami, and São Paulo. Notably, flights to São Paulo were reinstated on December 7, underscoring RAM’s commitment to rebuilding and expanding its global footprint.
The launch is part of Royal Air Maroc’s strategic development plan, signed with the Moroccan government in July 2023. The plan focuses on enhancing Morocco’s connectivity, bolstering its tourism appeal, and fostering stronger economic ties with key markets.
RAM highlighted the importance of the new route in promoting Morocco as a leading tourist destination while facilitating economic cooperation between Morocco and Canada.
This new link between Casablanca and Toronto not only serves the Moroccan-Canadian community but also strengthens cultural and business ties between the two countries. The route is expected to enhance tourism, encourage investment, and offer travelers more convenience and connectivity.
With its growing network and commitment to innovation, Royal Air Maroc continues to play a crucial role in Morocco’s global integration and its ambitions as a major hub for international travel.
