In a bold commitment to innovation and sustainability, BMCI introduced the “Greentech Roadshow” last July, touring four major regions in Morocco. Partnering with Technopark, French Tech, and Kluster CFCIM, and supported by Arval and Engie, the initiative aimed to spotlight groundbreaking startups in blue economy, low-carbon technology, and agritech sectors.
Over 100 startups submitted their applications, with 50 making the cut to pitch in Essaouira, Fès, Tangier, and Casablanca. Each stop showcased disruptive green technologies and sustainable development solutions. Four finalists emerged, one from each region, and will compete in a grand finale in Casablanca this January for a cash prize of several thousand dirhams.
The projects that captured the jury’s attention ranged from eco-friendly car washing systems to biofertilizer production from organic waste, remote energy management for buildings, and sustainable agricultural solutions.
The roadshow gathered over 230 participants, including prominent figures like André Azoulay, advisor to His Majesty, who launched the event in Essaouira’s Technopark. Attendees included representatives from universities, businesses, and institutions such as Euromed, the CRIs of Fès-Meknès, Marrakech-Safi, Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima, the EBF, and the Club des Dirigeants.
The semi-final, held on December 17 in Casablanca, marked a pivotal moment with the signing of a partnership between BMCI, represented by its Chairman, Hicham Seffa, and Technopark’s Director General, Lamia Benmakhlouf, to strengthen their collaboration in open innovation.
With a strategy focused on innovation and social responsibility, BMCI is not only promoting technological advancements but also prioritizing inclusivity. The initiative highlights women-led startups and champions regional diversity, reinforcing the bank’s dedication to fostering equitable economic growth.
