Fes, the imperial city and a cradle of spirituality, is preparing to come alive with the sounds of the Fes Festival of World Sacred Music from May 16 to 24, 2025. This 28th edition, themed “Renaissances,” promises an immersive journey into the soul of global cultures.
Bringing together over 200 artists from 15 countries, the festival will once again serve as a crossroads of tradition and spiritual inspiration. This year, Africa and Italy take center stage, highlighting Morocco’s deep cultural ties with both. From Italy to Turkey, France to Spain, Switzerland, and several African nations—including Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Burundi, and Togo—sacred melodies will echo through the historic landmarks of Fes’ medina.
The opening night is set to be spectacular, featuring a brand-new musical and theatrical production designed to transport audiences through the great civilizations and their spiritual quests.
Since its founding, Fes has symbolized cultural and religious renewal. Abderrafih Zouitene, President of the Esprit de Fes Foundation, emphasizes that this year’s theme reflects the city’s essence: “A city open to the world, a meeting point of civilizations, constantly reinventing itself while staying true to its roots.”
In this spirit, the festival deepens its African connections, celebrating a continent where younger generations are actively preserving and passing down ancestral traditions. It’s a tribute to Africa’s cultural heritage and the enduring legacies that shape its identity.
A city synonymous with the Renaissance, Florence—twin city of Fes—will also be in the spotlight, further strengthening the bonds between Mediterranean and African cultures.
With the full program and ticket sales set to be announced soon, the 2025 edition is already shaping up to be a powerful moment of intercultural dialogue, uniting people through music and spirituality. More than ever, this festival resonates with the soul of the world.
