Achraf Hakimi and Hassan Hajjaj launch bold cultural pop-up in Casablanca

Casablanca has just become home to one of the city’s most buzzed-about pop-ups. Football star Achraf Hakimi and internationally acclaimed artist Hassan Hajjaj have teamed up to launch Juj, a limited-time café and cultural space that will be open throughout the Africa Cup of Nations, which Morocco is hosting from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.

The project marks a creative reunion between the two, following a high-profile photo shoot earlier this year that merged Hakimi’s global sports fame with Hajjaj’s vibrant artistic style. With Juj—meaning “two” in Arabic—they’ve taken that collaboration to the next level, building a physical space where football culture and contemporary art collide. Designed as a hub for food, design, and community, the venue aims to become a magnet for fans, creatives, and anyone looking for a unique place to hang out during the tournament.

Located in the heart of Casablanca’s Maarif neighborhood, the space is unmistakably stamped with Hajjaj’s visual identity. It’s an explosion of color, pattern, and cultural mashups, blending Moroccan heritage with a pop-art edge. The décor is playful and immersive, featuring reimagined everyday objects like reused tin cans, plastic mats, bold textiles, and eclectic furnishings that speak to both nostalgia and modernity.

The grand opening, held on December 14, drew a crowd of notable guests from across Morocco’s cultural scene. Rappers like Draganov, Morad, and Stormu made appearances, as did top athletes including goalkeeper Yassine Bono and midfielder Azzedine Ounahi. The event perfectly captured the spirit of Juj—equal parts street culture and celebratory gathering.

More than just a stylish hangout, Juj also pays tribute to Moroccan street food and its everyday heroes. Inside, visitors will encounter snail vendors, traditional water sellers, and jabane merchants, all reimagined within a market-inspired setting. Games of checkers with soda caps, spontaneous tea sessions in a classic Moroccan lounge corner, quick bites among art installations—everything has been curated to feel informal, fun, and deeply local. A concept store within the space adds another layer, allowing guests to take a piece of the experience home.

While Juj is temporary by design, its message is crystal clear. It’s a bold attempt to create a meeting point where tradition and innovation coexist, appealing to a young Moroccan generation that’s proud of its roots and eager to redefine them. With Hakimi and Hajjaj behind it, the project stands as a testament to the power of collaboration, creativity, and cultural pride.
