Airbus Expands Footprint with New Facilities in France and Morocco

Airbus Atlantic announced Monday that it will soon take over two key aerospace production sites—one in western France and the other in Morocco—as part of a broader agreement with U.S.-based Spirit AeroSystems. The move comes at a time when aircraft manufacturing is ramping up significantly, and the integration is seen as a way to secure long-term stability for both facilities.

The French site, located in Montoir-de-Bretagne near Saint-Nazaire, will be rebranded as Airbus Atlantic Cadréan. Currently staffed by around 135 workers, the facility specializes in assembling fuselage sections for the A350, specifically the portion known as section 15. The Moroccan site, situated in the Midparc Free Zone near Casablanca, employs about 250 people and will adopt the new name Airbus Atlantic Maroc Aero. That plant produces key structural components for several Airbus models, including leading edges for the A220’s wings, the aircraft’s central keel beam, and flap track beams for the A321.

Airbus Atlantic, which is overseeing the transition, aims to fully take over operations in the second half of 2025. A preparatory phase will take place beforehand to ensure a seamless handover, with a particular focus on maintaining uninterrupted production during the changeover.
