Hassan Ouriagli passed away on Saturday in Paris due to a pulmonary embolism, according to multiple confirmed sources. The CEO of Al Mada leaves behind the legacy of a key figure who quietly shaped Morocco’s economic landscape.
Though he preferred to stay out of the spotlight, Ouriagli wielded significant influence. He took over the leadership of the royal holding company in 2014, after steadily rising through the ranks of the Société Nationale d’Investissement (SNI). During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in its evolution from a national investment group into a major pan-African investment fund.
His death brings an end to a remarkable career that placed him at the center of Morocco’s economic transformation over the past twenty years, during a period marked by rapid shifts in the country’s version of capitalism.
