The itinerant “Al Omrane Expo Marocains du Monde” made its stop in Amsterdam on Friday, as part of a six-city tour aimed at connecting with Moroccans residing abroad. After traveling through several European cities, the expo continues in the Dutch capital until October 20, highlighting the Moroccan government’s commitment to its diaspora.
Organized under the auspices of the Ministry of National Territorial Planning, Urban Planning, Housing, and City Policy, this event aligns with the royal directives to foster stronger ties with Moroccans living abroad (MRE). The expo is a central element of the Al Omrane group’s strategy, which focuses on enhancing connections with the diaspora, creating platforms for dialogue, and addressing their needs while keeping the citizen, whether at home or abroad, at the core of its priorities.
As in previous editions, the Amsterdam event featured a key conference on its opening day, led by Housni El Ghazaoui, President of Al Omrane’s Board of Directors. The conference was attended by notable officials, including Morocco’s Ambassador to the Netherlands, Mohamed Basri, and the Consuls General of Morocco in Amsterdam, Utrecht, Rotterdam, and Den Bosch.
The conference provided a platform to showcase the major reforms in Morocco’s housing sector. These reforms are part of the national strategy to meet the growing demand for housing, improve living conditions, and make the country more attractive to investors. A central element of these reforms is the new direct housing assistance program, launched in accordance with royal directives.
Housni El Ghazaoui reaffirmed Al Omrane’s commitment to supporting the government’s housing policies, emphasizing the group’s role as a key public instrument in executing these strategies. He introduced Al Omrane’s new digital platform (www.alomrane.gov.ma), designed to assist Moroccans, both within the country and abroad, in acquiring housing. This platform offers comprehensive information on available properties, including location, size, price, and nearby infrastructure.
The launch of this platform marks a significant step toward increased transparency and accessibility, reflecting Al Omrane’s commitment to placing citizens at the heart of its operations. The digital transformation is a key aspect of Al Omrane’s new approach, aiming to deliver services that align with modern expectations and technological advancements.
The platform currently offers real-time access to approximately 23,000 housing units spread across more than 520 projects throughout Morocco. Users can easily explore options for apartments, plots of land, and commercial spaces available for purchase.
In addition to this platform, El Ghazaoui announced the official launch of “AlOmraneAssist,” a new digital tool tailored for MREs. This platform enables Moroccans abroad to track the progress of their real estate projects, whether for personal use or investment purposes, providing them with up-to-date information on construction and other key details.
The 2024 edition of “Al Omrane Expo Marocains du Monde” kicked off in Madrid from May 31 to June 2, followed by stops in Montpellier (September 27-29) and Düsseldorf (October 4-6). After Amsterdam, the expo will continue to Montreal (November 8-10), before concluding in Bologna, Italy, from December 6-8.
This year’s expo highlights the continued commitment of the Moroccan government and Al Omrane to strengthen ties with the diaspora, offering innovative tools and solutions that cater to their housing and investment needs, while keeping pace with digital advancements and citizen-focused strategies.
