Over two dynamic days in Marrakech, Allianz Maroc wrapped up the second edition of its Partner Seminar (January 31 – February 1), focusing on “New Economic Challenges in the Era of Multipolarity: Opportunities and Risks for Morocco.” The event explored global economic shifts and examined how the insurance sector can act as a catalyst for Morocco’s socio-economic development.
The seminar brought together economic experts, high-profile speakers, and key decision-makers. Abderrahim Dbich, CEO of Allianz Maroc, emphasized the importance of these exchanges to bolster Morocco’s role as a strategic bridge between Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. He praised the country’s resilience in navigating a rapidly changing global landscape, highlighting its ability to capitalize on new opportunities.
Former French Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin kicked off the discussions with an insightful analysis of current geo-economic dynamics. He stressed the significance of national branding (“marque-pays”) in attracting international investment. Villepin noted that Morocco’s unique heritage and strategic position make it a compelling global player, further enhanced by its successful hosting of major sporting events—critical for increasing its international visibility.
A panel discussion led by Nadia Hachimi Alaoui, a scholar from the International University of Rabat, delved into Africa’s investment climate. Said Ibrahimi, CEO of Casablanca Finance City, emphasized that infrastructure and regional connectivity are pivotal to fostering sustainable growth across the continent. Abderrahim Dbich redirected the focus to the insurance sector, addressing emerging risks tied to technological and climate transitions. He advocated for a new global regulatory framework to oversee these technological shifts, akin to the international COP climate conferences.
The conversation also turned to Morocco’s ongoing reforms aimed at improving gender equality and women’s economic empowerment. Nouzha Skalli, president of the think tank Awal Houriates, underscored that unlocking the full potential of Morocco’s workforce requires enhanced social policies and a modernized Family Code.
Mankeur Ndiaye, former Senegalese Foreign Minister, highlighted Morocco’s vital role in Africa’s evolving multipolar partnerships. He lauded King Mohammed VI’s vision for deeper continental cooperation. Faouzi Skali, anthropologist and author, further elaborated on Morocco’s rich, plural identity, framing it as a beacon for intercultural dialogue.
Mouad Hajji, General Coordinator of the Moroccan Football Federation, spoke about the strategic impact of Morocco’s 2030 FIFA World Cup bid. He emphasized that the tournament offers a transformative opportunity to boost tourism, modernize infrastructure, and enhance the country’s leadership in global sports.
To complement the discussions, Allianz Maroc presented an immersive art exhibit by Ilyas Selfati titled “The Tree that Hides the Forest,” symbolizing both surface-level economic changes and deeper structural transformations. The event closed with a thought-provoking talk by Nassim Haramein, physicist and founder of the International Space Federation. Haramein explored how quantum physics and neuroscience reveal the universe’s interconnected nature—a metaphor for Morocco’s evolving place in the global economy.
Against the backdrop of Morocco’s rapid structural reforms and expanding strategic sectors—such as renewable energy, automotive production, and tourism—Allianz Maroc is positioning itself as a leader in the nation’s economic ascent. The company reported an impressive 26% growth in 2024, far surpassing the industry average. It continues to offer some of the most competitive investment rates while maintaining high service standards, evidenced by its NM ISO 9001-2015 certification.
