Atacadão expands southward with new Ouarzazate store

Atacadão is continuing to expand its footprint across southern Morocco with the launch of a new store in Ouarzazate, following recent openings in Laâyoune and Guelmim. This latest move reinforces the brand’s aggressive growth strategy in a region that’s quickly gaining economic momentum.

The new store spans more than three hectares, with over 4,400 square meters dedicated to retail space. An additional 1,000 square meters is allocated for storage, and a 232-space parking lot completes the site. The project represents a total investment of 76 million dirhams and is expected to generate 100 direct jobs, along with another 100 indirect employment opportunities.

This opening is part of a broader expansion strategy that the company has been actively pursuing for several months, focusing heavily on southern cities. The aim is twofold: to bring commercial services closer to underserved regions and to contribute to the growth of the local economy.

In Ouarzazate, Atacadão is sticking to its signature approach—a cash & carry model that offers both individual and bulk purchasing options. Customers benefit from a wide range of products available in self-service format, with pricing that becomes more competitive as volumes increase.

A key part of the company’s strategy is its commitment to maintaining consistent pricing nationwide. Even in remote locations, Atacadão absorbs logistical costs to ensure its customers don’t pay more based on geography. This policy is central to its mission of protecting consumer purchasing power and supporting small businesses in their daily operations.
