Canadian mining company Aya Gold & Silver has estimated the net present value of its Boumadine polymetallic project in Morocco at $3.5bn, according to an updated preliminary economic assessment. The estimate uses a discount rate of 5%, under the project’s base-case scenario, the company said.
The assessment also puts the project’s internal rate of return at 93%, a measure of its potential profitability. It estimates that the initial investment could be recovered in 0.7 years, or about eight and a half months.
The figures are projections based on the assumptions used in the preliminary study. They are not financial results already achieved.
The technical report sets out updated economic estimates for Boumadine, but the company did not specify a timetable for a possible start of production or outline its next operational milestones in the information released.
